OELRICHS - Fridays are Fun Days at the Oelrichs School. According to some kids, all days at the school are fun; but everyone agrees Fridays are especially fun. In addition to learning their regular educational material, students are learning and practicing their skills together through fun activities.

Friday Fun Days were implemented by the school last year, in part, to encourage attendance on Fridays. Although they haven’t solved the problem of chronic absenteeism that all schools are experiencing, the kids enjoy getting together for fun and educational activities. According to administration, the Fun Days have improved attendance on Fridays.

Last Friday, February 23, the school invited family and community members to join the kids for an afternoon of Bingo. They turned out in full force, and the gym was alive with activity. The kids didn’t realize they were practicing their math as the announcer, Ken Updike, called out the letters and numbers. Everyone had a great time vying for prizes. The school put together prize packages and obtained gift cards for food, shopping, and gas. They were highly sought after and greatly appreciated by the winners.

The school posted on Facebook, “It was sooo much fun, we may have to make this an annual event!!!!”
