HART RANCH – The Hot Springs Lady Bison golfers were led by Sierra Bristow last Monday, May 6, at the Black Hills Conference meet held in Rapid City on the Hart Ranch Golf Course, as she shot an 18-hole round of 115.

RAPID CITY – With two weeks to go until this year’s state meet in Sioux Falls, several Hot Springs Bison track and field athletes set new personal records (PR) at last week’s Black Hills Conference meet, with hopes of also qualifying for state. In fact, a total of 45 PRs were set by the team at the meet.

Bison baseball team grabs one run win over Lead-Deadwood

HOT SPRINGS – The Hot Springs Bison baseball team earned a hard-fought victory over the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers at home last Tuesday, May 7, by a score of 1211. Hot Springs starting pitcher Jaydon Koffler gave up one run in the top of the first inning but then got a lot of run support from his offense in the next four innings as the Bison held an 11-3 lead after five full innings.

Boys medley wins Howard Wood title

SIOUX FALLS – It was a highly successful trip east to the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls this past weekend for the Hot Springs Bison boys and girls track and field teams. “The kids came in focused,” said Hot Springs head coach Mike Close.

Girls golfers host Pre-Regions

HOT SPRINGS – The Hot Springs Lady Bison golfers hosted the Pre-Region tournament at Southern Hills Golf Course last Thursday, May 2, where St. Thomas More won the team title with a four-person, 18-hole score of 384 followed by Custer in second place with 419 and Belle Fourche in third with 450.

Medley relay team sets new school record

BELLE FOURCHE – Hot Springs’ boys relays shined last Tuesday, April 23, at the Northern Hills Invite in Belle Fourche as seniors Braden Peterson, Matt Close and Luke Haertel, along with freshman Hunter Kunz, won two gold medals and also set a new school record.

Local teen qualifies for second straight trip to national bowling championship

HOT SPRINGS – This year has seen a high number Hot Springs student-athletes achieve high honors on a statewide level in several different sports. Sophomore Braden Yeager is another athlete who can be added to that list, as he is currently sitting in sixth place of his U18 division in the four-week South Dakota Youth Bowling State Tournament, with a 204 average in ‘All Event Scratch.’ Despite only bowling for about three years, Braden – who is known by many as ‘Berto’ by his friends – has excelled quickly in the sport, which he credits to practicing 2-3 times per week, watching YouTube videos and the support of his family.

Golf season gets underway in Belle

BELLE FOURCHE – The Hot Springs Lady Bison golfers took part in a triangular in Belle Fourche on Thursday, April 11, where Custer took the team title with a four-person nine-hole score of 210 followed by the host Broncs in second place with a 257. Hot Springs did not have a full team and thus could not pull together a team score.

Many Moguls show improvement at pair of meets last week

EDGEMONT – Edgemont had a busy week in the track world last week, having two track meets where lots of the student athletes were able to improve against some tough competitions as well as gain some times in events they haven’t run this year yet.
