OELRICHS - The Fifth Annual Lakota All Star Games were held in Rapid City at the Monument on Saturday, March 30. Three boys basketball teams and two girls basketball teams competed in the high school games, followed by women’s and men’s college basketball games.

HOT SPRINGS – After just eight official practices, the Hot Springs Bison baseball team got its 2024 season underway last Friday, March 29, with a home doubleheader versus Belle Fourche, which included JV followed by varsity game in which the home team lost 4-22.

KADOKA – Last Tuesday night’s Class “A” SoDak 16 matchup in Kadoka featuring sixth-ranked Hot Springs and 11th-ranked Vermillion started pretty much how the Bison had hoped, as they took an early 10-1 lead midway through the first quarter.

HOT SPRINGS – Regardless of the sport, the Southern Hills Showdowns between Hot Springs and Custer always makes for a competitively, fun-filled environment. In the playoffs, things get stepped up even more, especially if a trip to the SoDak 16 is on the line.

HOT SPRINGS – Another member of the Hot Springs Bison football team’s coaching staff has received statewide recognition after the team’s post-season success by winning the Class 11B state title this past November.

PIERRE — The first reading of sports classifications and alignments for the next two school years received the endorsement of the South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors at its meeting on Wednesday. Feb. 28.

Around the school, there are posters of adults saying that they wrestle–but what about high schoolers? During this time of the year, wrestling becomes popular, but not enough to get new members. Members of both the girls and boys’ wrestling team share their experience with this intense sport and hope more to join it.

As a senior on the high school gymnastics team, I have experienced many things and created too many memories to count. I have created a sisterhood with the other gymnasts. The amount of things that the sport and the people have taught me are endless. It has taught me resilience, persistence, and confidence--including strength.
