On Tuesday, March 22, at 7 p.m., the annual winter sports awards was held at the high school
Lane Ostenson gave out awards for perfect attendance. Susan Ostenson gave out awards she had just received for volleyball. Jenna Ostenson and Maddie Peterson received honorable mention. Avery Van Eaton and Abbie Tidball received All Conference.

Preschoolers Celebrate Dr. Suess Week

Preschoolers at Edgemont Children’s Center celebrated Dr. Suess’ birthday with special readings and crafts the week of Mar 1 through March 3.
The students painted Cat in the Hat’s and fishes for “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.” Special guest readers that week included Edgemont Herald-Tribune Editor, Aaron Eberly and Councilwoman Brenda Cullen.
On Tuesday, March 8, the class went to the Edgemont Public Library. Librarian, Ashley Cortney, read two Dr. Suess books.

Edgemont AAU Youth Wrestling Results

On Saturday, March 12, six Edgemont AAU wrestlers competed in the SDWCA AAU Regional Tournament in Rapid City. The Tots (6 and under), Bantam (7-8), Midgets (9-10), Novice (11-12) and Cadets (15-16) advanced the top three places to the state tournament.
The School Boy (13-14) advanced the top four places. The SDWCA AAU State tournament will be in Aberdeen on April 2 and April 3.

WeNot Me Hoop Shoot

A group of fifth and sixth grade girls’ ballers played in the “We Not Me Hoop Shoot” (basketball tournament) in Gordon, NE, February 26 and 27. The girls had a great time Saturday when they played two games and all got to participate in a knock-out shooting contest. Sammy Andrie and Kaitlin Gerard also shot in a 3-point contest.

Grill has Tough Draws at State

Edgemont’s Chance Grill, wrestling for Custer at the State B Wrestling Tournament, had a pair of tough draws at 106 pounds.
Chance lost a close 5-2 decision to Sam Kruger, the second place finisher in the state meet. In the wrestlebacks, he was faced with Sterling Rausch of Webster Area, the eventual seventh place finisher.
The freshmen wrestled well and has several more years to look forward to.
