Surrounded by several past winners over the 59-year history of the tournament, this year’s Father’s Day Invitational winners were the Hot Springs father-daughter duo of Gary and Madilyn Palo, pictured in the center and holding their prize money and their new Black Hills Gold rings. Also pictured standing directly behind Gary and Madilyn are Chase Palo and Jacob Palo – Gary’s two sons – who won the tournament as partners in 2019.

HOT SPRINGS – A total of 28 two-person teams competed this past weekend in the 59th annual Father’s Day Invitational, held at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs on Saturday and Sunday, June 17-18.

Using the Stableford scoring system which utilizes a handicap system and then awards a point value for bogeys, pars, birdies and eagles, this year’s winners were the father-daughter team of Gary Palo and Madilyn Palo of Hot Springs, who finished with a final score of +9 over the two-day, 36-hole tournament.

The team medalist title went to the duo of Jay Miller (73/81) and Mike McLean (78/87) who shot a total of 319 strokes for a combined 72 holes. The individual medalist was a tie between Chase Palo (70/80) and Rick Brady (76/74) with 36-hole rounds of 150 each.

Following is a list of the top-10 overall teams, with the scores per 18 holes in parenthesis.

1st – Gary Palo & Madilyn Palo +9 (+9/0)

2nd – Jay Miller & Mike McLean +8 (+17/-9)

3rd – Rob Fox & Doug McKown +7 (+12/-5)

4th (tie) – Cory Matthews & Bill Matthews +6 (+4/+2); Bill Miller & Rick Brady +6 (+2/+4); DJ Schroeder & Jessi Schroeder +6 (+1/+5)

7th – Dave Batchelor & Jeremy Thieman +5 (+11/-6)

8th – Ron Elliot & Jacob Harris +3 (+7/-4)

9th (tie) – Scott Taeker & Jade Taeker +2 (-6/+8); Dave Tefft & Johnny Couch +2 (-6/+8)
