HOT SPRINGS – A total of 28 two-person teams competed this past weekend in the 58th annual Father’s Day Golf Invitational at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs, which was played June 18-19 and also included a dinner and Calcutta at the clubhouse on Friday, June 17.
Using the Stableford scoring system which gives a point value to pars, birdies and eagles, this year’s winner was the team of Luke White and Cole Trevillyan, who finished with a final team score of +19, but then also had to defeat two other teams on a single playoff hole to earn the title outright.
The other two teams who also finished +19 after 36-holes, and placed second and third, were Chase Palo and Jacob Palo, and then Randy Sieg and Baylor Sieg. The playoff hole was No. 9, which finishes right below the balcony of the clubhouse at Southern Hills Golf Course, which allowed a perfect vantage point for attendees to witness the tie-breaking finish.
The runner-up brother duo of Chase and Jacob Palo, who won the team title in 2019, were also awarded the “Hard Charger Award” for making the biggest move on the second day by going from an even score of zero after Day 1 and then go +19 on Day 2 to finish in the tie for first place. The father-son Sieg team also placed third last year.
In addition to team tournament champions being crowned, the overall team medalists were also presented awards as John Tarrell and his partner Jesse Hattervig shot a 72-hole score of 308. Tarrell was also the individual medalist with a 36-hole score of 137 (66/71).
