State Resource Conservation Speech Contest

The Fall River Conservation District recently hosted its local competition for the State Resource Conservation Speech Contest. This local contest was open to all Fall River County students in 9th through 12th grade.
The theme for this year’s contest is “Why manage water for conservation?” Edgemont teacher Garland Wright encouraged her ninth grade speech students to enter the contest this year, and the results were well worth the effort.
Two of these students earned the top placings in the local contest. Wade Printz won first place and the local $50 prize, and Clay Englebert won second place and $25.
From here, Wade and Clay went on to the Area contest, held in Rapid City on April 6. The top two speeches from that competition will go on to the state competition in Pierre on April 23.
The state level competition will award scholarships in the amounts of $1,100 for first place, $750 for second, and $450 for third. Good luck to Wade and Clay at the Rapid City competition!”
