William Frederick 'Bill' Fitzner, 94

William Frederick ‘Bill’ Fitzner, 94, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away January 5, 2018, at the Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs, SD.

Bill was born May 13, 1923, in Edgemont, SD, to Frederick and Emma (Hauf) Fitzner.

Bill’s  survivors are daughters, Ruth Ann (Harold) Dahl, Hot Springs; Linda Fitzner (Ken Iwanicki), Chicago, IL;  Joan (Harold) Huelsen, Howard City, MI; son, Tim (Kathy) Fitzner, Custer; son-in-law, Ken Abegg, (the late Shirley Slaughter), West Peoria, IL;  grandchildren, James (Angie) Slaughter, Huntsville, AL; Cindy (Rich) Messer III, East Peoria, IL; Wendell (Carolyn) Hertel, Hot Springs; Kristine Bogner, Rapid City; Joseph (Helena) Huelsen, Winimucca; NV; John Huelsen, Howard City, MI; Matthew Iwanicki, Johanna Iwanicki, Chicago, IL; Jeanene Krentz, Spearfish; Daniel (Elena) Fitzner, Kyiv, Ukraine; Lisa Fitzner, Rapid City: Cheri Fitzner, West Palm Beach, FL; great-grandchildren,  Nick (Morgan) and Andy Slaughter, AL; Tasha (Colin) Besser, Suzanne, Richie IV, and Krista Messer, IL; William and Elizabeth Huelsen, NV; Lane Winans, Josie and Sydney Bogner, Oral; two step-great-granddaughters; 4 step-great, great-grandchildren; siblings and in-law, Ralph (the late Dorothy) Fitzner, Rapid City; Helen Bennett, Hot Springs; Esther (the late Russell) Wineteer, Gillette, WY;  Alevia (the late Lester) Howe, Rapid City; Liliane (the late Henry) Howe, Highlands Ranch, CO; numerous nieces and nephews and many more grand-nieces and nephews and their children.

In addition to his wife, Jeanette, Bill was preceded in death by daughter, Shirley Slaughter (Ken Abegg), West Peoria, IL; sisters, Ruth (the late Edwin) Howe, Callaway, NE; Virginia Nelson, Portland, OR;  brothers, Orville (the late Maybelle) Poore, Hot Springs; Harold (the late Betty) Fitzner, Branson, MO; brothers/sisters-in-law, Robert Varick, Newcastle, WY; Henry (Liliane) Howe, Rapid City; Robert (the late Mary) Howe, NM; Florence (the late Edward) Keller, Omaha, NE; Willard Howe, Rapid City, Beryl (the late Eric) Erickson, Rapid City; Donald Howe, Portland, OR.; nephews, Curtis Poore, Spearfish; Richard (Dick) Fitzner, Branson, MO, and Johnny Traum, Portland, OR.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
