March 14, 1938 - June 18, 2023

A memorial service will be held in Hot Springs for Durwood Harland Swimmer on Saturday, August 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the gazebo behind the Brookside Apartments. Everyone is welcome.

Durwood was a longtime resident of Hot Springs and was born on March 14, 1938, to William Henry Swimmer and Josephine (Young) Flood near the Moreau River in Dewey County, S.D. Durwood made his journey to Spirit World on June 18, 2023, at his home in Hot Springs. Honorary pallbearers include all military veterans and his friends and family.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by many family members including his nephew, Larry Swimmer and family; along with hunka daughter, Patty Elliott and family, all of Hot Springs.

Wake and Funeral services were held in Rosebud on June 28 and 29, 2023.
