Shane A. Van Cleave

July 15, 1996 - July 30, 2023

Shane A. Van Cleave, 27, of Oelrichs, S.D., tragically passed away on July 30, 2023, in Oelrichs. Shane was born on July 15, 1996, to Sam and Kelly Van Cleave. He was the most perfect, beautiful baby that was brought home to two loving sisters who adored him.

Growing up, Shane was an avid hunter going on many hunting adventures with his Grandpa Dave, Uncle Cory, Aunt Jessica, and Cousin Sloan. Riding in a pickup with Grandpa Dave when he was chasing a deer or goat was an adventure in itself. Shane loved to get cleaned up and would say, “Damn, I look good,” and he did. He loved music and movies and would quote them with Rich endlessly.

Summer on the lake with the “OG lake crew” was something Shane loved and enjoyed; camping and boating were the best of the long hot summer days. He graduated from Douglas High School in 2015, working a few different jobs and learning different trades. A couple of years ago, Shane made the decision to move to Oelrichs to work on the place with Grandpa Dave and for Mike Arnoldy to become the best grain cart operator around.

Left to mourn Shane’s passing are, Grandpa Dave and Grandma Cheryl Warner; his father, Sam Van Cleave and Angela Pourier; his mother, Kelly Van Cleave and Richard Cadotte; sisters, Samantha Warner, Alexandria Warner, and Jaidyn (Jayden) Cadotte; brother, Dylan Pourier; cousin/brother, Sloan (Madi) Shorb; nieces and nephews, Mason, Shania, Henslee, Hank, and Halsey; grandpa, Robert and grandma, Carol Van Cleave; aunts, Jessica (Cory) Shorb, Stacey (Craig) Warner-Welbon, Michelle Van Cleave, and Amy (Mandi) Pourier; best friend, Cody Conroy. Along with numerous family members and friends who loved him.

Shane was a very kindhearted soul who lost his battle with depression. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression, please don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help.

A celebration of Shane’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Oelrichs School in Oelrichs, S.D.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley Funeral Homes in Hot Springs, S.D
