Orrine Marie Cerveny Sisley

September 2, 1924 - April 13, 2023
Orrine Marie Sisley, 98, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023, at the Episcopal Homes in St. Paul, Minn.
Marie was born in Mission, S.D., the oldest of eight children of Wesley and Marguerite Cerveny. At 9 years old, she became a devout Episcopalian when that priest performed her younger brother’s funeral service, and she held to the faith for the remainder of her life. She spent her early career in Civil Service as a Payroll Clerk at the Black Hills Ordnance Depot at Igloo, S.D.
She was noted as a smart and hard worker at every job she held. Marie also lived in Rapid City, S.D. for many years, where she enjoyed taking organ lessons, and loved to play music.
Her grandson, Ben moved to Rapid City in 2018 to visit Grandma frequently, and he took her to visit her sister, Caroline Cerveny Kanatzer and extended family in Missouri in early 2019.
Marie loved to walk, and did 1+ miles every morning until she was 97, without assistance. She also loved to learn and had an extensive collection of books and videos, mostly nature (animals, plants, and geography), history, music, and religion.
She is predeceased by her husband, Warner; son, Brian; and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Margaret, Elizabeth, Jeanette, and Jason; and one grandchild, Benjamin. She is also survived by her close sister-in-law, JoAnn Cerveny, as well as many nieces and nephews, and was especially close to niece, Karen Cerveny Jensen.
Marie is buried at the Black Hills National Cemetery, next to her husband, Warner. She requested that no service be held.
