Ralph “Ed” Edwin Olmstead

Ed Olmstead, 74, of Lennox, S.D., died suddenly, March 8, 2017, at his rural Lennox home, from natural causes.

Ralph Edwin Olmstead was born in 1942, and grew up in Igloo, S.D., and graduated from Provo High in 1960. In 1963 he married Linda Hamaker. They lived in Edgmont, Lennox, Ely, NV, and Hot Springs before returning to Lennox. Ed was a member of Lennox Commercial Club, Jaycees, Lions, Mountain View Lodge, NAJA Shrine, Fall River Shrine Patrol, Lennox Sports Boosters and II Reformed Church. He was a coach and sports official for many years. Ed worked at Valley Exchange Insurance, Lennox, Silver King Gold Mine, Ely, Nev. and retired from the SD Housing Authority, Hot Springs.

Survivors: wife, Linda, Lennox, children: Denise Oltmanns, Edgemont, Timothy (Jada) Olmstead, Sioux Falls, and Tamra (Joseph) Harrington, Lennox; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings: Norman, Martin, S.D., Vernon, Edgemont, S.D., Dennis, Sherman, Texas and Darlene Geboe and sister-in-law, Doris Olmstead, Bellingham, Wash.
