October 20, 1952 - July 20, 2022

Annie Jean Lauer, 69, of Loomis, Neb., and Hot Springs, S.D., died on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at her home. Annie Jean was born on October 20, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia, the eldest of five children, born to Robert “Bob” and Pauline (Trotter) Lauer. Annie Jean attended and graduated from Broken Bow Public Schools in Broken Bow, Neb., with the class of 1971.  

Annie Jean made her home in Hot Springs, where she enjoyed gardening and began working at Mt. Rushmore. In later years, she was the Manager of the Rushmore Mall in Rapid City, S.D.  

Annie Jean was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Bob and Bernadine (Colbo) Lauer; mother, Pauline Lauer; two brothers, Robert Lauer, Jr. and Larry Wayne Lauer; sister, Barbara Lauer; and aunt, Emma Jean Lauer.

Annie Jean is survived by her brother, Jerry Lauer of Loomis; niece, Christine Hilburn of Broken Bow, Neb.; nephew, Nathan Lauer of Michigan; and step-daughter, Bobbie Jo Tucker of Gillette, Wyo.; great-niece, Quin Lauer; and uncle, Richard Lauer of Davidson, Okla., along with extended family members.

A memorial service for Annie Jean Lauer was held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the Loomis Evangelical Free Church in Loomis, Neb., with Pastor Tom Thompson officiating.

The family has chosen cremation. There will be no visitation or viewing.

A memorial has been established in Annie Jean’s honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
