David Harrison Hussey


January 18, 1952 - July 4, 2022

David H. “Dave” Hussey, 70, of Oral, S,D., passed away on July 4, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Ft. Meade, S.D.

David was born January 18,1952 in Burlington, Colo. At the early age of three his family moved to Oral on the Angostura Irrigation Project. This is where he continued to grow up and attend grade school and attended high school in Oelrichs, where he graduated in 1971. He then proceeded to join the US Army where he served with the 82nd Airborne Corps from 1972-1974. At the end of his military career, he came back to Oral where he met his wife, Diane Tomac while working at the VA Medical Center in Hot Springs. He married Diane in 1975 and they began growing their family in 1977 when their son, Travis was born followed by their daughter, Spring in 1980. David worked at the VA for eighteen years before retiring.  He finished his working days at the Fall River Feedyard for fifteen years until he became ill in 2010. In 2013 he began living in Ft. Meade on a CLC unit until his death. 

David is survived by his wife, Diane Hussey of Oral; son, Travis (Heather) Hussey of Falcon, Colo.; daughter, Spring (Charlie) Worden of Pflugerville, Texas; three grandchildren, Brandon Hussey, Skylar Worden and Cooper Worden; brothers, Raymond (Candy) Hussey of Buffalo Gap, and Tim Hussey of Gillette, Wyo.; sister, Nancy Hussey of Oral; along with nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Lena Rose Hussey and one brother, Eddie Hussey. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Buffalo Gap Community Center on July 30, 2022, at 4 p.m., 209 Main St, Buffalo Gap, S.D.
