Zabie (Zimiga) Pudwill

Zabie Pearl (Zimiga) Pudwill was born Febraury 1, 1941 in Wanblee, SD to James and Grace (Hawkins) Zimiga. She grew up in Edgemont with her seven borthers and sisters.
Zabie was married to Duane Peck from March 1963 to February 1988. One son and two daughters were born to this union; Connie DeHaai, Donnie Peck and Krist Green. She later married Norman L. Pudwill on December 16, 1988. Zabie, 75 passed away at Fall River Hopital on February 23.
Zabie is survived by her husband, Norman L. Pudwill of Hot Springs, son Donnie (Kris Stiles) Peck of Hot Springs, daughter Connie (Jay) DeHaai of Papillion, NE, daughter Kristy (Howard) Green of Hot Springs; grandchildren Jenni (Devin) Jensen of Bellevue, NE, Nichelle DeHaai of Papillion, NE, Kyle Peck of Worland, WY, Kaylee Peck of Hot Springs and Charles Green of Hot Springs. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Rhilyn Jensen and Kayden Hinton, tow brothers Marclef Zimiga of Hot Springs and Carl Zimiga of Edgemont and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four borthers and one sister.
Zabie loved gardening, especially flowers and trees. She worked at Catle Manor Nursing Home for about 20 years as a CNA. Zabie enjoyed taking care of her family and others. She loved to travel and see her child and grandchildren. Zabie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 71 and VFW Auxiliary Post 1640. She loved her animals.
Wake services were held Sunday, February 28 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Hot Springs. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, February 29, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs. Reception followed at the American Legion Post. Food was provided and served by the American Legion Post and Auxiliary.

John “Jack” Roth

John “Jack” Roth, 85, of Parker, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Funeral mass was held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Christina’s Catholic Church, Parker. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.
John Albert Roth was born on February 14, 1931 at Winner, SD to John and Pearl (King) Roth. He moved with his mother and grandmother to Hot Springs, SD and graduated from Provo High School at Igloo, SD in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean War as a ski trooper and demolitions expert, having been stationed in Alaska. On December 13, 1950 he was married to Kathleen Coyle at Igloo. After graduating from Chadron State Teachers College in Chadron, NE he coached and taught at Edgemont, SD and Belle Fourche, SD. While at Edgemont he coached the track team to a state championship, having been the first west river team in either division to win state. He also coached the Belle Fourche football team to an undefeated season. He moved to Parker, SD in 1965 where he was an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance for 33 years, retiring in 1996. On January 22, 1988 he was united in marriage to Debby Novak at Parker, SD.
He was a lifetime member of the Parker VFW Post 2821, past State Teener Baseball Commissioner, past Justice of the Peace, past clerk of the Parker school board, past board member of the Dakota Cooperative Telephone, served as mayor of Parker, and a coach to many.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Debby; 4 children, Linda Baldwin, Rapid City, Sharon E. Roth, Dallas, TX, Michael (Patti) Roth, Swan Lake, and Mark (Amy) Roth, Wright, WY; a daughter in law, LaVetta Roth, Parker; step children, Michelle (Sue) Novak, Pipestone, MN and Christopher (Kari) Novak, Viborg; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Daryle Roth, Indianapolis, IN; and a half brother, James Roth, Commerce City, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Gerner Olsen, a son, Larry, a brother, Neil Roth, and a granddaughter, Jennifer.

Judy Cummings

The Lord has another angel. Judy Sue (Hamaker) Cummings of Yerinton, NV, was called to be with her Lord on February 24, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, NV.
Judy was born to Tim and Ruth (Tolover) Hamaker in Crawford, NE, on June 14, 1943. Judy had seven siblings, twin sisters that died at birth, surviving siblings are; sisters, Linda (Ralph) Olmstead of Lennox, SD, Mary (Mike) Hatervig of Hot Springs SD, LuJean (Don) Haskavitz, Minnekahta, SD. brothers, Bob (Rose Leling) Custer, SD, Jerry (Wanda Blare), Edgemont, SD.
Judy was united in Marriage with Gary Cummings August 4, 1961. They were blessed with three children, Shelia Gamez and Vonda (Clint) Moxey, Reno, NV; Marvin Cummings, Elko, NV; eight grandchildren, Rae Lynn Cummings; Ambur (Anders) Boyd; Kent Gamez; Drew Franklin; Tyrell Cummings; Cierra Gamez; Riley Cummings; Shylee Moxey; and one great grandchild, Kaiden Boyd.
She is survived by her husband, all children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the United Church in Edgemont, SD, with Rev. Tom Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at the Edgemont Cemetery.
A memorial will be established at the Edgemont, SD, United Church and the Yerington, NV, Methodist Church.
