Donna Mae (Mock) Gall

 

March 28, 1941 - February 5, 2021

Donna Mae (Mock) Gall, 79, of Hot Springs, S.D. passed away on February 5, 2021, at Monument Hospice House, Rapid City, S.D. Donna was born on March 28, 1941 to Giles “Dee” and Ida (Pahl) Mock at their farm in rural Dickey County, N.D., northwest of Forbes, N.D. 

She attended country school through 7th grade when the family moved into Forbes to own and operate the Peoples’ Store. She graduated from Forbes High School in 1959. She played basketball and was a starting player on the 1959 Girls’ Basketball Team that won the State Class “C” Girls’ Championship. She attended the Ellendale State Teachers College (NI) where she met the love of her life, Elmer.

They were married on December 2, 1960, a loving union and celebrated their 60th anniversary this past December. They were blessed with two children, Julie Ann and Thomas Alan, and two grandchildren, Madeline and Ian. Over the years, they made their home in Conde, S.D.; Missoula, Mont.; Bismarck, N.D.; Cheyanne, Wyo.; and Hot Springs.

Donna worked a number of different jobs including helping her parents with the Peoples’ Store in Forbes; working as a medical receptionist in Ellendale; and babysitting. She also worked as a secretary for lovedTri-State Engineering; as a nurse’s aide for Health Care Services, and as a noon supervisor and as a teacher’s aide with special needs students at several schools in Bismarck. She was active at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School, serving on the altar guild, and delivering flowers to those in the hospital.

Donna had a passion for animals, wildlife and the outdoors. She had numerous cats and dogs which she loved dearly.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer, Hot Springs; children, Julie, Highlands Ranch, Colo. and Thomas (Jennifer), Mantorville, Minn.; grandchildren, Ian and Madeline; 2 sisters, Shirley Martin, Forbes, N.D., and Cecile Ringgenberg, Columbia, S.D.; as well as many nieces and nephews too numerous to list. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Francis, as well as one sister and two brothers who died as infants.

A memorial service for the immediate family will be on February 11, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
