Dawn Gore
Dawn Jean Gore, 57, of Mineola, TX passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Mineola, TX. She was born on Thursday, January 9, 1958 in North Korea.
Dawn enjoyed riding motorcycles.
She is the daughter of Bob and Clara Smith.
Dawn is survived by her mother, Clara Smith of South Dakota; husband, Bobby Gore of Mineola, TX; daughter, Suzanna Renaud and husband Jason of Mineola, TX; three brothers, Sam Smith of Alaska, Jon Smith of South Dakota, Justin Humphries of Iowa; three sisters, Penny Miller of Missouri, Crystal Hunsaker of South Dakota, Starla Russell of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Indy Renaud, Mateo Renaud, Xender Renaud.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, TX. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Beaty Funeral Home at 2:00 PM officiated by Mike Fletcher. Internment will follow at Little Hope Cemetery in Winnsboro, TX.
In lieu of flowers family has asked to make donations to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, TX 75701.
Clara Clay
Clara Mae Hagen Clay, 94, entered eternal life on July 28, 2015, in Columbia, South Carolina. A lifelong resident of Hot Springs, South Dakota, she relocated to Columbia, SC, in 2013, to live with her daughter Bobbi Kennedy.
Clara, was born September 7, 1920 in Hot Springs, SD, to Leonard Axel and Mary Edith Parsons Hagen, She was raised on a 160 acre ranch on the Cheyenne River, attended grade school at Falls Schools, graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1939, and began a 38 year career with the US Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. She met the love of her life Charles “E” Eddie Clay, at the 1944 Hot Springs New Year’s Eve Fireman’s Ball. They married on January 27, 1946. She was one of the first women officers of the FSA and served as the County Executive Director from 1964-1981. After retiring from her first career she began as full time office manager for Fall River Abstract, which she co-owned until retirement in 2005.
For over sixty years Clara and Eddie were enthusiastic supporters of Hot Springs through participation in church activities as well as a wide range of organizations. Clara was a member of the Eastern Star Martha Chapter #22 and served as Worthy Matron. She worked with the Miss South Dakota Pageant Committee for fifty years serving as the Scholarship Chairman for twenty six years. Clara was a supporter of many causes including the Mammoth Site, PEO, The Southern Hills General Hospital Board, The Black Hills Playhouse and the Mount Rushmore Society. She received numerous awards including the 1980-81 Business and Professional Women of the Year Achievement Award and the Hot Springs Excellence in Community Service Award in 2004. Clara was a gifted artist and baker creating hundreds of ceramics as well as birthday, anniversary and wedding cakes. Also an avid hostess, Clara and Eddie were members of a couple’s supper club for over fifty years. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage, loved Irish music, dancing, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Clara had a deep faith and lived it daily. In her honor we will continue her good work. Family and friends will be celebrated. Babies will be kissed, loved ones hugged, including our four legged friends. Seasons will be savored. We will contribute to good causes and give back with an open heart and open hands. She taught by example that “the greatest of these is love.”
Clara is survived by her daughter,Bobbi Clay Kennedy of Columbia; granddaughters, Suzannah Bagwell (Bryan), Meredith Harrison (Jeff), Kate Kennedy (Cammy); grandson Joe Kennedy (Anita); great grandchildren Alexander, Liam and Eran Bagwell, Ella and Nathan Williams, Kolby and Hunter Harrison. She was a grandma of the heart to Frank, Kate and Mary Claire Ginsbaugh. She is also survived by her niece Alana Clay Axe (Jim), nephew Dale Clay, niece Charlotte Wagner (Tim).
She is predeceased by her father and mother Axel Hagen and Mary Edith Parsons Hagen Sheehan, her sister Dorothy Hagen, her beloved husband of sixty-six
years Charles “E” Eddie Clay and son-in-law Raymond M. Kennedy.
The family would like to thank her dedicated care giver and friend Sonja Steenlage for her exceptional care and love. We would also like to thank her many family and friends for their support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The United Churches, The Charles E. Clay Legacy Society at the Mammoth Site, Eastern Star Martha Chapter 22, or the PEO scholarship fund.
A celebration of her life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015, at The United Churches, 342 North Garden Street, Hot Springs, SD, with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.

John Bennett
John Lewis Bennett, age 67, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away September, 19, 2015, near Hot Springs.
John was born April 26, 1948, to Emma (Lewis) Bennett in Denver, CO. He served in the United States Army from December, 1968, until his honorable discharge on December 10, 1970.
Survivors include daughters, Tekla Bennett of Fordyce, NE; Jennifer Bennett of Lemmon, SD, and one grandchild.
Committal services were held September 25, 2015, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD, with Rev. Lloyd Nielson officiating.
