City Council Meets; Airport Lights and Wells To Be Fixed

The Edgemont City Council met on September 16 and was called to order at 7 p.m.  There was discussion about replacing the airport lights and the wells that need to be fixed.  Both issues were approved.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the agenda for the current meeting and the minutes from September 2.  Motion passed.

Mick Trek Brings Over 600 People to Edgemont for an Afternoon

Edgemont Chamber and Historical Society volunteers were waiting at the Park for bicycle riders as they finished their first day of the Annual Mickelson Trek.  Riders had their choice of flavors of ice cream and homemade pies to choose from. The ice cream is part of their participant fees, and the pies are sold as a fundraiser by the Historical Society to help pay the expenses of maintenance for Edgemont’s Covered Bridge.

Tribune Hires New Editor

On September 11 the Edgemont Herald Tribune hired a new Editor.  Aaron Cross comes to us from Harrison, Nebraska.
Cross grew up on a ranch in Nebraska located northwest of Harrison.
Aaron attended school (Kindergarten through 12th grade) in Sioux County Schools and at Eastern Wyoming College on a rodeo scholarship.
After graduating college, Cross has had several different jobs, including an eight year stint at the Sioux County Extension Office.

School Board Approves Final Budget

The 2014-15 school budget of $1,827,593 for the Edgemont School District was approved by the school board at their Sept. 8 meeting.
Board members in attendance were Connie Gerard, Gary Darrow, Nikki Ostenson, Justin Printz; with Susan Humiston absent.  Administration attending were Dave Cortney, Lane Ostenson, Amy Ferley, and Diane Stevens.
After call to order, pledge of allegiance, and roll call, there was an approximate 25 minute tour of the school buildings.
