HOT SPRINGS – Every 8 seconds, a woman is beaten by someone who says he loves her. Every 2 hours, a woman is killed by someone who says he loves her.

Those are the words written across the top of a poster that was circulated recently around the area in recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Edgemont’s downtown flower beds getting some TLC from local resident

EDGEMONT – Edgemont’s downtown flower pods, located on and near the corner of Mogul Way and 2nd Street, are receiving some love and attention by one of the town’s “Green Thumbs,” Marge Schaller.

Schaller is known for her gardening skills through the work she displays at her home on F & 9th Streets, and was “talked into” sharing her talents by volunteering to clean up the three city-owned flower beds along Edgemont’s Main Street recently.

Oelrichs Tigers Homecoming...

The Oelrichs School student body last week chose Florin Cross Dog as their Homecoming King and Emarie Hughson as their Homecoming Queen. Following coronation, the two reigned over the festivities last week which will included Class Color Day, Decade Day, Pajama Day and Jersey Day, as well as a pair of home volleyball games versus Sioux County, Neb., and Takini. The Lady Tigers split the homestand, defeating Takini 3-0 but narrowly falling to Sioux County 3-2.

Hydrothermal Greenhouse project receives USDA Grant

PROVO – A local agricultural effort being coordinated by the Southern Hills Economic Development Corporation (SHEDCO) received a big financial boost recently after it was announced that they had received a federal grant totaling $42,485, which will help build a small-scale prototype hydrothermal greenhouse on private property in southwestern Fall River County.
