On Monday, June 13, at 7 p.m. the Edgemont School Board held a regular meeting.
Diane Stevens stated that Ben Elliott had completed the FY15 audit. She will get a copy for the board as soon as Elliott has completed the final draft.
Lane Ostenson stated that all grades have been posted and grade cards were sent out. Most sixth through twelfth grade students have scheduled their classes. Ostenson has also been working on the extra curricular schedule. Edgemont will no longer play Philip, but Hulett, Wyo. instead. Edgemont will also be facing New Underwood less during the season, but has picked up Moorcroft, Wyo.
Amy Ferley stated that teachers had to turn in the Student Learning Objective (SLO) at the end of the year. This was something they had written at the beginning of the year and most of them met their SLO with high expectations.
Ferley sat with Dave Cortney and Ostenson and went over the Consolidated Application Grant. Ferley has also completed the Classroom Innovation Grant. In all, the grant was for $76,646. Ferley hopes they get the grant money. If they get the grant, plans and training will begin this summer.
Ferley is looking forward to training and learning more about customized learning and what it can look like for the school.
Cortney is in the process of completing Title I reports, Consolidated Application, IDEA part B, Flow Through Funds and South Dakota End of the Year Sign-off. Cortney stated that some of the projects for the summer are the armory basement floor, plumbing, ceiling and light in room H106, security camera system, gym and stage lights, perimeter security light, handicap ramp in the foyer and removing the metal doors going into the gym.
A new sound system was mentioned. It is hard to hear in the gym during certain events and a better sound system may improve the situation. Suzanne Hollenbeck is working on getting a bid. The administration will get a bid from KT Connection as well.
Nate Cortney and crew have been working on classroom cleaning. Nate started the chiller - everything seemed to be running smooth, except the short runs.
The sprinkler system is running after replacing of a few heads and a little trenching. Everything was removed form the armory basement and painting was done before the floor guys arrived.
Weeds were sprayed, grounds were being mowed and the gym is being cleaned for open gyms. The maintenance crew will start extracting carpet and waxing the tile.
The board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 28, at 6 p.m., in the school library to go over end of the year budgeting and planning for next year. The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m., in the school library.
