FALL RIVER COUNTY WEED & PEST BOARD MEETING
October 19, 2023
The Fall River County Weed and Pest Board meeting was called to order by President Jerry Wyatt at 1:04 p.m., October 19, 2023 at the Fall River County South Annex meeting room. Attending members were Bob Novotny, John Sides, and Nina Steinmetz. All motions unanimous unless otherwise stated. Motion to approve the agenda, minutes, and budget of the last meeting were made by Bob Novotny and seconded by John Sides.
Old Business: Prairie Dog Concerns: When a complaint is turned into the board and if there are dogs on both sides of the fence, the board is now going to request documentation of prairie dog remedial actions from both sides of the fence. This policy was revisited and reminder letters will be sent if documentation was not received.
Fall River Landowner Reimbursement Grant for Herbicide and Prairie Dog Applications for 2023 – The office needs reimbursement receipts by Oct. 30, 2023 or sooner.
New Business: Ideas for Grant proposals for 2024, Common Mullein and Baby’s Breath, were reviewed by the board.
District 4 Meeting – Nov. 8, 2023 – Rapid City – 8:00 a.m. We need 2 attendees to qualify for grants 2024.
Nina Steinmetz gave a report on visiting a Yellow Blue Stem patch in the Black Hills, October 16th, 2023. This invasive grass is now in the neighboring county and the need for education on identification is very important.
The next meeting will be November 16th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fall River County Weed and Pest South Annex. Meeting was adjourned.
