Fall River County Approved Minutes of August 25, 2022
The Fall River Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on August 25, 2022. Present: Joe Allen, Les Cope, Joe Falkenburg, Heath Greenough, Deb Russell and Sue Ganje, Auditor.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given, and the meeting called to order at 9:00 a.m.
The agenda was reviewed for conflicts; none were noted. All motions recorded in these minutes were passed by unanimous vote, unless otherwise stated. Motion made by Russell, seconded by Allen, to approve the agenda as written.
There were no applicants for county assistance.
Discussion was held on the gravel contract with KD Contractors and how to move forward. Motion made by Russell, seconded by Allen, to proceed with the most recent bid from KD Contractors, at $8.23 per ton and to have Brosz Engineers do a gravel pile measurement for the purchase.
Further discussion was held on the possibility of heavier gravel and building a better base for the roads. Randy Seiler, Highway Superintendent, commented that bids could be done differently in the future if the heavier gravel seems to work. The Board would like to see what Maitland Road looks like with the heavy gravel before moving forward. Sue Ganje, Auditor, will have figures available at the next meeting for budgeting purposes.
Motion made by Cope, seconded by Allen, to enter executive session as per SDCL 1-25-2 (3) for legal purposes and as per SDCL 1-25-2 (4) for negotiation purposes at 9:16 a.m.
The Board came out of executive session at 10:28 a.m.
Motion made by Greenough, seconded by Allen, to write a letter to invite the Mayor of Hot Springs, along with the Hot Springs City Council, into negotiations of contracts for law enforcement and dispatch.
Motion made by Greenough, seconded by Russell, to adjourn at 10:29 a.m.
