Special Board Meeting
March 31, 2020
Call to Order: The Board of Education of the Oelrichs School District 23-3 met in special session on March 31, 2020 in the gymnasium. The meeting was called to order by Jennifer Her Many Horses, Board Vice-President, at 10:00 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance
Members Present: Jennifer Her Many Horses, John Cope, and Lance Tlustos.
Members Absent: Dave Osmotherly and Vince Logue
Others Present: Dr. Mitchell Stone, Valerie Sword, and Darla Peterson.
Motion by Cope, second by Tlustos to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.

Update on School Closure: Dr. Stone informed the board about the continued education provided to students through distant learning. Teachers prepare work that is sent out to the students on a weekly basis. Principal Peterson shared the expectations from teachers in their distant teaching strategies. She expects each instructional packet to identify learning targets and how students can meet the standard through the work completed and returned. Teachers are also expected to have weekly phone contacts with parents and/or students.
Food service continues to provide five breakfast and lunch per week. The meals are delivered Monday, Wednesday and Friday through the scheduled bus route.
Motion by Cope, second by Tustos to follow Governor Noem’s recommendation of school closure through May 1, 2020. Motion carried.
Personnel: Motion by Cope, second by Tlustos to continue to pay hourly staff administrative leave as long as the school is closed due to the COVID-19
Adjournment: Tlustos moved and Cope seconded to adjourn the meeting at 10:40 a.m.
